Jama Masjid, one of India’s most marvellous pieces of architecture, was built during the rule of Ahmed Shah I, a ruler of Muzaffarid dynasty, in 1423, just west of the famous Manek Chowk.












Jama Masjid (literally Friday Mosque), also known as Jumah Mosque, is a mosque in Ahmedabad, India. The mosque is situated outside Bhadra Fort area, along the south side of the road extending from Teen Darwaza to Manek Chowk.

History

Jama Masjid, the principle place of prayers for Muslims was built during Ahmed Shah’s reign within the 15th century. it had been supposedly the most important mosque within the Indian subcontinent. The mosque was constructed as a part of a bigger design of the town .

It lies south of the processional axis that runs from the Maidan-i Shah with three arches called Teen Darwaza within the old city. Ahmed Shah, his son, and grandson have mausoleums west of the mosque. a brief walk off lies Rani no Hajiro, the tombstones of queens and wives of the dynasty.
